  •                     BAPTISM

Our Parish Family at Immaculate Conception welcomes you and your child! Baptism marks a significant event in your child and your family's life, for, through Baptism, your child becomes a member of the Body of Christ. It is the responsibility of every catholic to be actively involved in their parish community. Our infant baptisms are for children six years of age and younger. May God bless you through this journey!

  • When baptizing infants, there are specific guidelines that we follow:

    For Parents:

    • Parents are encouraged to participate in preparatory programs for Baptism. In mixed marriages, the non-Catholic parent is encouraged to support the catholic parent in raising the child in the catholic faith.
    • Parents are required to take a pre-baptismal class before Baptism.
    • After bringing in the required documents, parents must have a meeting with one of our parish Priests and are then able to choose an available date for their child's Baptism.

    For Godparents:

A godparent lives a life of faith proper to a church member and befitting the role of godparent. Their part is to assist the parents (the primary teachers) in leading and helping them walk with God and new spiritual life.

  • The requirements to be a Catholic Godparent are as follows:

    • A godparent must be a Roman Catholic.
    • He or she must be at least sixteen years of age and have received all initiation sacraments. ( Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation)
    • A baptized member of a Christian Church other than the Roman Catholic Church may not be a godparent but can serve as a Christian Witness. He or she must be accompanied by a Roman Catholic godparent (with all initiation sacraments completed).
    • If they are married, they must be married by the Catholic Church. Godparents that are single people living together as a couple or are civilly married are not eligible to be godparents.
    • A parent of the child to be baptized may not be a godparent to their child.
    • Godparents are required to attend a pre-baptismal class.
  • Exceptional Cases (for parents)

    •  Single parents must fill out an available parent consent form (AFFIDAVIT).
    • Relatives who have full guardianship of the child need to present a court-mandated document declaring that they have the right to make decisions for the child's welfare.
    • Parents of adopted children need to present adoption papers.

     Documents needed to be submitted.

    • Birth certificate of the child(ren)
    • Picture ID of parents & sponsors (both parents & sponsors)
    • If applicable, Parents' marriage certificate by the Roman Catholic Church and confirmation certificate (if applicable). If not married by the Roman Catholic Church, parents must initiate certificates, including Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation.
    • If applicable, Godparent's marriage certificate by the Roman Catholic Church and confirmation certificate. If not married by the Roman Catholic Church, godparents must bring an initiation certificate, including Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. (Only if single and not living with a partner).
    • Certificate of Completion of Pre-Baptismal Class from parents and godparents.
  • Baptismal Process in chronological order

    1. Fill out Baptismal application: For this, you will need the child’s birth certificate. We will also need a copy of the ID of the child’s parent/guardian.
    2. Pay $100.00 fee: This fee is due upon the completion of the application. This fee is not refundable.
    3. Turn in godparents and parent certificates if single: baptismal, first communion, and confirmation certificates. If married: Confirmation certificate and marriage certificate (by the Roman Catholic Church).
    4. If you are a single parent, have guardianship of the child (ren), or are parents of the adopted child (ren), please turn in the required document (s).
